My Epistolary Poetry Workshop on Grief and Memory

I'm so grateful to Maine's poet laureate Julia Bouwsma for selecting me and these fellow poets to facilitate an epistolary poetry workshop during National Poetry Month.

On Saturday, April 29th, I facilitated one about grief and memory. We reviewed poems by Wanda Coleman, Erika Meitner, and Anis Mojgani to talk about writing letters to the the living and the dead in relation to what we have lost and what we remember. The poems included content about familial trauma, suicide, and stream of consciousness letter writing amidst travel.

To use Julia's words, we have been in a collective moment of elegy these past few years. I'm grateful for the space used for poetry to talk more about that.
